Captain Ted Pakii
Captain Ted Pakii was appointed Managing Director and CEO of the PNG Air Services Ltd in October 2009. He was the inaugural Chairman of PNGASL from January 2008 to September 2009. He was the Chairman of former Civil Aviation Authority from June 2005 until January 2008. He was a Board Director of the former PNG Civil Aviation Authority from May 2002 to December 2007. Prior to his appointment, he was the Chief Pilot, Check and Training Captain on the Boeing 767 aircraft for Skystar Airways in Thailand for two years. Prior to that he was the Boeing 767 Captain and Cadet Program Manager for Air Niugini for three years. Captain Pakii joined Air Niugini as a direct entry pilot in 1996. Before joining Air Niugini he was a military pilot from 1979 to 1995, including four years as a Flying Instructor with the Royal Australian Airforce (RAAF).
Executive Manager Engineering Services
Clement Kapapal was initially recruited and appointed as the Executive Officer and Board Secretary of PNGASL on 5th May 2011.
After holding various senior Management positions within the company he now holds the position of Executive Manager Engineering Services. He is a seasoned executive having held various senior executive management positions under the Civil Aviation Authority and National Airports Corporation since 2003. He rose to the ranks of Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the then Civil Aviation Authority and Chief Operations Officer of National Airports Corporation during these years.
He is an Electrical Engineer by profession and has had working stints with Halmac Edington (Brisbane) as a Graduate Electrical Engineer, Bougainville Copper Limited as an Electrical Maintenance Engineer, SP Brewery as an Electrical Engineer prior to joining the then Department of Civil Aviation as a Radio Project Engineer and working his way up the ranks as a career civil aviation officer.
Executive Manager Air Traffic Services
Phil Irvine was appointed as the Executive Manager Air Traffic Services on 17 June 2013.
Prior to taking up the role, he spent 24 years with Airservices Australia in various Air Traffic Services related disciplines and roles including ATC, management and training. In the latter years with Airservices he was actively engaged with a range of international Air Navigation Service Providers in regard to ATC training and improvement program development in addition to design and implementation of modernised ATC procedures and separation standards. In particular, he was directly engaged with providing assistance to the then Civil Aviation Authority since 2004 and with PNG Air Services since its inauguration. He was directly involved in the early stages of the development of PNG Air Services’ modernisation
program. He holds a Diploma of Aviation (Air Traffic Services).
Executive Manager Business Development & Strategic Management
Brian Sam was appointed Executive Manager Business Development & Strategic Management in August 2015.
He was former Chief Executive Officer of Telikom Foundation Inc from 2010 to January 2015. He was former Head of Change and Strategic Management with Telikom PNG Limited from 2008 to January 2015. He has 10 years of entrepreneur business leadership and management knowledge and skills.
He has MBA from Deakin University Australia. He has attained Advance Management Programme at New Zealand Management Institute NZIM. He is certified in internationally recognized Prosci Change
Management Process. He has broad knowledge in technology and operations management.
Executive Manager Finance
Marcellin Donnelly joined PNGASL in October 2007. He holds the position of Executive Manager Finance. Prior to joining PNGASL, he held Management positions with various Companies. He commenced employment as a Graduate Accountant with Coopers & Lybrand in 1989. He continued his employment with Coopers & Lybrand as an auditor until 1996 when he joined Steamships. Apart from Steamships, he has held Management positions with Andersons Foodland and Daltron Electronics Ltd. He is an Accountant by profession. He holds a Diploma and Bachelor in Commerce and Accounting from the University of Technology and is an Associate Member with CPAPNG.
Company Secretary & Executive Manager Legal Services
Ms. Sharon Nalu
Sharon Nalu was appointed as the Company Secretary on 9 July 2012. She now holds the position of Company Secretary and Executive Manager Legal Services. Prior to her appointment, she was practicing as a lawyer with various private international legal firms for more than 8 years. Prior to commencing her legal career, Sharon also gained some work experience with the Bank of South Pacific Ltd and following that with the National Broadcasting Corporation as a journalist. She holds a Diploma in Media Studies and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Papua New Guinea. She attained her Certificate in Post Graduate Legal Training from the PNG Legal Training Institute and has a Certificate in Readers Practice Course from the Victorian Bar in Melbourne. She has a Master of Laws (Commercial Law) from Monash University, Victoria, Australia. She is a member of the PNG Law Society, the Victorian Bar and the Aviation Law Association of Australia and New Zealand.
