PNGASL’s Stakeholder Engagement framework is set by the principles defined by the core values of the company. The framework is essential for the company's standards as it values continuous improved decision making and accountability of good governance practices.
Learning and Development initiatives as well as strategies continue to remain a top priority for the Company in its endeavor to realize organizational excellence. Capacity and capability development of its Human Capital remains central to the Company’s overall progress. As such, the Company for the first time entered into an agreement with the Singapore Aviation Academy (SAA) to meet specified competencies more suited to the industry and business of providing air navigation services. Through this approach, the development of competencies aimed at strategically placing the right people at the right positions were achieved.
During the year, PNGASL employed a coordinated and holistic approach to training which included both our core business requirements (ATS) as well as the rest of the organizations learning and development needs. This strategy is aligned with our goal and commitment to evolve into a leading-edge Air Navigation Service Provider (ANSP), that we believe can only be realized with a modern and effective workforce.
Transport infrastructure is integral to the functioning, growth and prosperity of nations. For PNGASL, the key physical and virtual infrastructure which includes technological systems that support its business and therefore service to Papua New Guinea’s aviation community is considered more critically today given the trend in the modernization of business practices, advancements in technology as well as infrastructure. The migration to the use of satellite-based technology with the Company’s GNSS based approach Project, which is less susceptible to the same degree of problems faced by the current ground-based systems will be a positive accomplishment, with significant cost benefits realized for this critical national infrastructure. In 2018 this project progressed steadily albeit prevalent challenges.
